Matt and Anie are very excited to announce the Retreat’s superb new facility – a welcoming and most comfortable guest lounge and bar. They are also extremely pleased to introduce the adjacent Wine Cellar housing over 1,500 bottles of international and local wine and Champagnes.
The superlative cellar collection showcases global wine countries and regions’ renowned best according to their climate, terroir and grape varietals, including some excellent Australian and New Zealand discoveries. We invite you to peruse, sample, enjoy and take home some of the world’s most delightful wines. With his expertise, Matt has hand-selected the collection and looks forward to discussing and sharing the merits of his choices with guests, who may browse the cellar in person or select from the in-room menu for room service delivery.
The bar also offers up some rare treats with spirited cocktails, evocative gins and smooth barrelled aged rums. There’s a fine selection of local and international beers and alcohol-free excellence with still and sparkling wines, mocktails, low-cal beverages and, of course, great fresh ground coffees.
Our guests tell us they are very much enjoying the fine ambience of the lounge, where you can recline and unwind in leather wing-back chairs with a log fire on cool mountain evenings and sip with delicate breezes on warming spring afternoons. Relax immersed in conversation, compete in a game of pool, chess or backgammon, or simply enjoy meeting other guests as you savour a newly discovered or old favourite tipple.
